Odette & Scott’s Caversham House Hidden Gardens Wedding  

Scott and I met at Curtin University in the second semester of our first year of uni. I was studying Physiotherapy and Scott was studying Medical Imaging Science. I was working at the help desk in the Abacus computer labs and Scott was completing his assignment at one of the computers. He noticed I was wearing a Guns N Roses t-shirt and he came up to say hi and tell me that he liked my shirt. We have been friends ever since, but it took 6 years before it became something more…

We chose to have our ceremony at the Caversham House Hidden Gardens. Several months prior to our engagement, Scott and I had been kayaking along the Swan River in Guildford when we passed by these magical gardens and waterfall. We both couldn’t believe how beautiful the Caversham house grounds were, we had no idea a place like that existed in Perth. When we got engaged it was the first place we thought to check out for our wedding ceremony and reception. After meeting with the staff we booked the Hidden Gardens for the ceremony and the house for the reception. We didn’t need to see anything else we just knew.

We tried to keep our theme quite romantic with soft, muted pastels and the idea of an enchanted forest.

There were so many great moments on our wedding day. The one that really stands out for the both of us is our first dance. We practiced regularly in the lead up for the wedding with one of my friends who has a ballroom dance background and was kind enough to choreograph it and train us. We were both nervous about how we would go on the day, especially since we had never rehearsed it with me in my dress. It went better than we could have hoped for and our guests really enjoyed it too. We danced to “Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS and I think we did it justice.

We were already familiar with the Viva Franchise so when we saw the display at a wedding expo we were keen to talk to the representative. The package on offer was too good to refuse and we are very happy with our choice.

We really appreciated the time Ben, our photographer, took in the lead up to our wedding to get to know us as a couple, in particular our interests, personalities and what makes our relationship unique. He was very easy to create a rapport with and he provided us with a very personalised service. He was also extremely professional while being a lot of fun at the same time.
